Listen to the Narration:

Fox was enjoying the shade beneath Owl’s tree one summer afternoon when a bright green dragonfly buzzed past him.

“What do you think about dragonflies?” Fox asked Owl, who was trying to have a nap on a branch above.

Owl opened one eye to look down at Fox. “I don’t think anything about them at all,” he said.

“But surely you have some opinion about them,” Fox said.

“Is the dragonfly asking to be judged by me?” said Owl. “No! I don’t need to have an opinion about something just because someone else wants me to.”

For Parents: What Stoic Quote Does This Story Illustrate?

You always own the option of having no opinion. Things you can’t control are not asking to be judged by you. Leave them alone.”

Marcus Aurelius
