From The Stoic Fable Book by Phil Van Treuren

stoic fable book for kids 12

Listen to the Narration:

A big, strong ox was made to pull heavy carts by a farmer every day. A crow sometimes liked to watch him toil, and didn’t understand why the ox always pulled so willingly.

“Pretend you’re lame and the farmer might let you relax,” the crow suggested to the ox one morning. “Why would you want to pull such heavy carts every day?”

“For the same reason you would want to fly every day,” the ox answered. “Were you given wings just to walk everywhere? No! And I wasn’t made big and strong to only bear light burdens.”
