Listen to the Narration:

When Groundhog saw Rabbit struggling to dig a burrow in the meadow, he stopped his own work and went to help.

“Thanks for lending a hand,” Rabbit said gratefully. “This would have taken me all day — I’m not the best digger.”

Groundhog was cheerful as he started on the new tunnel. “My pleasure,” he said. “This lets me do both of the things that make me happiest.”

“Oh, and what are they?” Rabbit asked.

Groundhog stopped for a moment. “Creating things, and caring for others,” he answered, then went back to digging.

For Parents: What Stoic Quote Does This Story Illustrate?

“What man actually needs is not a tensionless state but rather the striving and struggling for a worthwhile goal, a freely chosen task.”
